Senior Ceramics Engineer

Essential Job Functions:

  • Project planning and implementation
  • Lead drive for improved quality control
  • Characterization of ceramic powders, slips and pastes
  • Provide and coordinate effective solutions for scale-up from pilot scale to commercial production
  • Develop, validate and implement innovative concepts for the manufacture of solid oxide fuel cells
  • Provide and implement cost reduction measures for manufacturing
  • Ability to adapt plans to continual evolution of fuel cell manufacturing processes
  • Provide direction for next generation of fuel cell development through technology evaluation and assessment of business needs
  • Identify and address process and yield optimization issues
  • Ability to develop methodology for plasma spraying and pressing novel powder precursors
  • Ability to develop novel coating formulations
  • Develop and facilitate presentations for senior management and customers
  • Write lucid reports detailing analysis and recommendations for senior management and customers

Other Job Functions:

  • Work on special projects as requested by Management

Skill Requirements:

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
  • Ability to direct technicians/assemblers
  • Demonstrated ability to write and deliver presentations
  • Ability to sell concepts for research purposes
  • Ability to write proposals
  • Ability to use MS Office and Microsoft Project

Experience/Educational Requirements

  • Master’s Degree with 3+ year’s industrial experience; or
  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree with 4+ year’s industrial experience
  • Proven industrial ceramic processing scale-up experience
  • Industrial ceramic process troubleshooting
  • Colloid chemistry experience is highly desirable
