Fuel Cell Quality Engineer

Position Purpose

In the achievement of Total Customer satisfaction, you will be responsible for monitoring and improving yields throughout the production process and control of systems to ensure quality relating to incoming supplier components, materials, and systems. A background in Ceramics is highly desirable.

Essential Functions:

· Benchmark and evaluate current quality procedures and documentation.

· Develop and setup, monitor, and maintain systems to ensure quality from raw powder to completed SOFC units.

· Apply statistical process control or best practice method for analyzing data to evaluate current process and process changes to achieve improvement.

· Conduct first article, incoming, packing, and final inspection with reports.

· Respond to and resolve emergent manufacturing and engineering issues.

· Perform regular quality engineering reviews of documentation, components, and systems for compliance with stated requirements.

· Assist in the development, validation, and implementation of innovative concepts for the manufacture and troubleshooting of SOFC.

· Perform process capability analysis, FMEA, root cause / corrective action analysis, and develop and implement 5S and foreign object debris (FOD) policies.

Minimum Requirements:

· Bachelor of Science Degree in quality, ceramics, materials, physics, engineering with greater than five years industrial experience. Ceramics degree highly desirable.

· Implementation of quality systems in an industrial environment with experience in industrial process troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

· Experience with six sigma methodologies, lean manufacturing, SPC, variation reduction analysis, and ISO 9001/2008.

· Ability to work independently and in a team setting, direct technicians/assemblers, and perform in a hands on environment.

· Competence with Microsoft tools and statistical packages such as Minitab along with strong communication skills (written and verbal).

· Comfortable working in mechanical and electrical environments with micrometers, calipers, height gages, multi-meters, power supplies, etc.

· Experience with technical fabrication processes including pressing, sintering, and coating development with ceramics highly desirable.
