Gary D. Simon

President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Simon has a broad-ranging 40-year career that includes executive positions at Fortune 500 companies and leadership of small start-up businesses, as well as consulting to major energy companies. He served as Acumentrics Chief Executive Officer from July, 2004 until December 31, 2009 during which time the Company grew to record performance levels. He remained an active member of the Company's Board of Directors while returning to California to mentor a number of clean energy companies.

Prior to joining Acumentrics, he was the Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Business Development at Northeast Utilities, where he held responsibility for corporate R&D as well as for business planning and strategic M&A transactions. In that position, Mr. Simon had a major role in over $2.5 billion of transactions, was the head of corporate venture investing, and was a member of the senior management committee. Previously, he was Senior Director and head of the Global Power Practice for Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA) for nine years, where he provided advice on the future directions of the energy industry and the sources of strategic advantage, including the emergence of new power technologies.

He is also Chairman, Capstone Turbine Corporation and serves as a board member of two nonprofit organizations, SmartPower and the Sacramento Area Regional Technology Alliance.

Mr. Simon holds an MS from the University of California, Davis, and a BA from Indiana University.

John Cerulli

Chief Financial Officer

John Cerulli has over 15 years experience in financial management in both public and private companies. John held several senior level financial roles including Treasurer and CFO of SABAL Investors, LLC, an early-stage private investment company. In addition, John acted as a consultant to a number of companies in need of financial analysis, business development, restructuring, cash procurement or merger and acquisition services. Mr. Cerulli has negotiated several multi-million dollar transactions for the real estate, professional athletics, tribal casino, technology and medical industries. John received his BS in Accounting from Bentley College in 1993 and has served on the Board of Directors for several not-for-profit charitable organizations.

Norman Bessette

PhD, CTO & Senior VP of Engineering

Norman Bessette is responsible for the engineering and manufacturing of the fuel cell products, engineering Rugged UPS products, and the research and development for government, military and corporate partnerships. Prior to joining Acumentrics, Dr. Bessette spent seven years at Siemens Westinghouse Power Corporation responsible for managing a $13 million fuel cell facility and $3.4 million in U.S. Department of Energy contracts. Dr. Bessette has published over 10 journal papers and has five patents either issued or under review related to SOFC (Solid Oxide Fuel Cell) technology. Dr. Bessette obtained his BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth in 1990 and received his MS and PhD. in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1994.

Ersson Zapata

Sr. Vice President of Operations

Ersson Zapata has over 13 years of experience in the power electronics and service industries specifically in the role of operations and supply chain management, and brings a wealth of experience in managing worldwide operations, supply chain, process reengineering and lean manufacturing methods to our Rugged-UPS and SOFC businesses. He has worked for prominent companies like American Power Conversion (uninterruptible power supplies) and SynQor (power supplies and power converters), setting up both domestic and international factories and new business acquisitions and integrations.

Steven Corbesero

Vice President of Sales and Marketing - RUPS

Steven Corbesero has over 20 years of progressive corporate, sales, marketing and engineering experience. Steven comes to Acumentrics from SIE Computing Solutions (formerly Carlo Gavazzi Inc.), a leading developer and manufacturer of rugged military and industrial embedded computer platforms. His roles at SIE included vice president of engineering, vice president of product marketing, and sales/business development executive. Steven holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University.

Paul Buzzotta

Vice President of Administration

Paul Buzzotta has over twenty years experience as a Human Resource Manager and Senior Business Partner at various companies including BD Biosciences Discovery Labware, Bristol Myers Squibb Medical Imaging, and The DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical Company. Prior to joining Acumentrics, he held positions as Field Sales Manager, E. I. DuPont de Nemours and Company’s Automated Clinical Systems Division, and Manufacturing Manager for DuPont’s NEN Research Products. Throughout his career, Paul has maintained a passionate interest in the advancement of science, and the development of people. He earned a BS degree in Biology / Chemistry from Nasson College in 1974 and attended Bentley College’s Graduate HR Management Certificate Program.

Michael Gagnon

Vice President of Sales and Marketing - SOFC

Michael Gagnon has over 20 years of sales, marketing and product development experience in the power, IT infrastructure and sensors/controls industries. Mike has a distinguished career leading sales, marketing and design engineering teams in a number of high tech companies in New England. He has held positions at large companies such as American Power Conversion and Sensata Technologies as well as smaller start-ups such as Coolcentric. Mike received his Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and his Masters of Business Administration in Marketing from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
