This position’s primary purpose is to collaborate with our existing power electronics team to develop and implement product evolution and cost efficiency. Participate in circuit and system design of UPS and fuel cell products. Design and debug UPS power conversion sub-assemblies from design, layout, through fabrication and production. Work with fuel cell products to support fabrication and test at component, sub-system and system level, as well as design and implementation of custom interface and feedback conditioning circuitry as required.
Essential responsibilities will include:
Power electronics design: power converter technology (UPS as well as switching power supply), power device analysis and selection including power dissipation estimation and heat sink selection, gate drive design, power PCB layout, power and EMI filter design
Magnetics design: inductor/transformer design and core selection
EMI filter selection and design
Analog circuit design: sensor conditioning, filter design
Digital circuit design using 7400 and CD4000 logic families or CPLD/FPGA
Closed Loop feedback control system design
Simulation via P-Spice and/or Matlab/Simulink
C / Assembly programming
Visual Basic programming
Minimum requirements include:
Demonstrated competencies with analog, digital and power electronics design, excellent problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities, test equipment proficiency including oscilloscopes, power analyzers and emulators, good mechanical skills and aptitude, PCB layout skills, preferably PowerPCB, familiarity with embedded systems, programming software (e.g. Visual basic, C), proficiency with engineering software tools (e.g. Mathcad, Matlab, SPICE and/or variants thereof), detail oriented, and an ability to produce accurate and concise documentation, and to work independently or in a multifunctional team environment. Keen intellectual agility, and capacity to respond to critical situations effectively. Effective communication (verbal and written), proficiency in MS Office. BS EE, MS strongly desired and 5+ years previous power experience. Prior experience in UPS or SOFC products strongly desired.
