They accept a wide voltage and frequency input, from almost any generator, worldwide, and automatically condition it. Our 1 kW and 2kW UPS units even accept DC input. Our true on-line, double conversion design ensures the output power remains continuous and regulated. In the event of power loss, our units seamlessly switch to battery power.

What about grid backup?
The grid does fail. Whether from weaknesses like those seen in the blackout of 2003, or from disaster-related overload like that on September 11, corrections can take hours or days.
Cell phone, VoIP, and utility providers need to ensure that they stay on. Yet, traditional battery racks require replacement every 2-3 years, and due to temperature sensitivity, they are not always reliable. Today, fuel cells are becoming an accepted source of backup power.
Fuel cells are highly tolerant of ambient temperature, so they can be sited in remote cabinets. They are silent, so they can be sited in congested areas. Acumentrics fuel cells operate directly from propane and methane, so no complex hydrogen infrastructure is required.
