Just as there are different types of batteries, there are different types of fuel cells. Glossary of terms:

1. Fuel cell: electrochemical device that generates a current from a flow of chemical reactants
2. SOFC: solid oxide fuel cell
3. in-situ: “in place” or “in the reaction mixture”
4. electrolyte: a material that will conduct free ions, but not electrons
