Learn About Fuel Cells
Just as there are different types of batteries, there are different types of fuel cells. At Acumentrics, we make ceramic fuel cells (sofc) that operate at high temperature, because we believe their efficiency and durability is superior to other approaches. Their in-situ reformation also makes for a simplified system. Want to learn more? For in-depth information about Acumentrics’ technology, see our SOFC technology write up. Glossary of terms:
- Fuel cell: electrochemical device that generates a current from a flow of chemical reactants
- SOFC: solid oxide fuel cell
- in-situ: “in place” or “in the reaction mixture”
- electrolyte: a material that will conduct free ions, but not electrons
